🫂 Friends / family
They love you — and precisely because of that, they have a stake. They want to help you, want you to feel better quickly, so they can't help giving advice and reasoning with you. And confiding has weight: say too much and you fear becoming a burden; often, you end up having to listen to them in return. Love is not the same as neutrality.
🤖 AI (ChatGPT, Doubao and the like)
Free, available around the clock, never tired — ask it what's on your mind and it often gives a pretty good response; it's a genuinely useful tool. But what it gives is information, not being heard: there's no real person on the other side of the screen pausing for you, moved by your words. The spark that flies when several real people speak and listen together is something no model can produce on its own.
🩺 Psychotherapy
Professional and deep, able to handle diagnosis, trauma and genuine psychological distress. If you're going through a
psychological crisis, that is where you should go — the Listening SPA is not a substitute. It is oriented toward "problems," booked as needed, one-on-one.
🌿 Listening SPA
No diagnosis, no analysis, no advice — just a space where you are heard. Once a week, low-threshold and sustainable over the long run — like everyday maintenance for your emotional life. Here you are both sharer and listener: truly heard, and practising hearing others.
An analogy: therapy is like a hospital — you go when you need treatment; an AI is like a pocket encyclopedia — it can answer anything, but it doesn't truly care about you; the Listening SPA is like a gym — you come to stay in shape, and to be genuinely seen. Friends and family are something else again — they are your relationships themselves, not a space designed specifically for "being heard."
